Hip & Knee Pain
The largest joints in your body are your hips and knees. Each of these joints have numerous muscles, bones and ligaments connected to provide stability while allowing movement. When the daily abuse to these joints builds up, injury or strain can occur limiting your ability to move with or without pain. In physical therapy, we help patients recover following knee or hip surgery and prevent surgery when possible. If you had knee surgery, including total knee or hip replacement, we can help ensure a proper recovery that will get you back to your normal self again.

On your first visit...
During your first visit, a full interview and physical examination will be performed to determine the exact cause of your pain. Your physical therapist will explain to you in simple terms exactly the cause of your pain and how to fix it. Your goals, expectations and any questions will be addressed. Finally, you will both develop a plan that works with your lifestyle and work together to resolve your pain and get you back to normal.
Frequently Asked Questions...
1: Will my hip or knee pain go away on its own?
It's possible, but unlikely because of how much time we spend standing or weight bearing through these joints daily. Unfortunately, the problem is that the longer you go with hip or ankle pain, the longer it takes us to fix it. When you have pain, it is your body telling you something is wrong. The quicker you get in to see a qualified physical therapist, the faster you will recover.
2. How do I get rid of my hip or knee pain?
To answer this question, it depends on the cause of your pain. That is why it is so important to begin physical therapy sooner than later. The sooner you find the cause to your symptoms, the sooner you can begin the recovery process. Many hip and knee conditions are able to be resolved with physical therapy and will not require surgery (no matter how bad the diagnosis sounds). The sooner we are able to identify the cause of your pain, the sooner you will have the tools to resolve your symptoms and prevent flare ups in the future.
3. Do you provide physical therapy following a hip or knee replacement?
Yes. We are unique in that we provide both home health physical therapy as well as outpatient physical therapy for a smooth transition. If you have a hip or knee replacement scheduled, give us a call and we can help set up your following therapy. If you already have had your hip or knee replacement and are ready to begin outpatient physical therapy we have same day or next day appointments available.
