Telehealth in Physical Therapy in Light of COVID-19
In an effort to keep our patients and staff safe during the Coronavirus outbreak, AccuCare is pleased to announce that we now offer telehealth visits to our current and prospective patients.
What is a telehealth visit?
To protect your privacy, our telehealth visits will be conducted via a secure video platform and will allow you virtual access to your physical therapist from the comfort and safety of your home or workplace.
How do I connect with my physical therapist for a telehealth visit?
If appropriate, you will be scheduled for a telehealth appointment. Before your scheduled session, you will receive an email with the link to a secure Zoom meeting between you and your provider. This link will bring you to the Zoom.us website. In the event the link does not work, go directly to the zoom.us website, click on join meeting in the upper right hand corner and type in the meeting code in the email. If you have trouble getting the link or logging on, contact our office at 630-761-0900 ext 229 for assistance.
Is a telehealth visit appropriate for me?
Our office will reach out directly to patients currently scheduled for an in-office visit if the physical therapist believes their appointment could be handled via telehealth. There are many types of physical therapy visits that may be appropriate for telehealth.
Are telehealth visits covered by insurance? Yes!
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the federal government and the state of Illinois has mandated coverage of telehealth visits by Medicare, Medicaid, and all commercial insurers in Illinois. You will not have to pay copays or coinsurance, but your deductible may still apply (depending on your plan). If you do not have health insurance and are paying directly, you will be charged a discounted price of $75 per telehealth visit.
**Please note: At this time Medicare is not covering telehealth. If you are interested in receiving therapy sessions with Medicare as your insurance provider, you will need to sign an ABN form and pay cash for those services.
